Retail operations
Retail Operations Software Development, built around your floor
Head office sends instructions and hopes they happen. Stock in the system is not stock on the shelf, and every store has a slightly different way of doing the same job.
Where it hurts
If more than two of these are true, there is a project here
We hear these from retail operations managers, directors and owners more than anything else.
- Store tasks go out by email or group chat with no way to see completion
- Stock levels differ between the POS, the warehouse and reality
- Each store reorders in its own way and head office finds out later
- Click and collect depends on someone remembering to check
- Comparing store performance means assembling exports by hand
What we build
The pieces that usually matter first
Store task app
Tasks issued, completed and evidenced with a photo
Cross-store stock visibility
One view of what is where, including in transit
Replenishment automation
Reorder suggestions from actual sell-through
Click and collect flow
Order to pickup without a phone call in the middle
POS and ecommerce sync
Products, prices and inventory agreeing across channels
Store performance dashboards
Like-for-like comparison without a spreadsheet
Systems we connect
None of this works in isolation
Whatever we build has to agree with the systems that already hold your numbers.
How we start
Small, and in production
Two or three stores, four to six weeks, usually starting with whichever problem costs you the most, stock accuracy or task compliance.
FAQ
Common questions
We run Shopify. Do we need anything custom?
For selling, no. Shopify is good at that. Custom work earns its place in the operations layer behind it: stock across physical stores, store task management, or connecting the store to an ERP or warehouse system that Shopify does not know about.
Can store staff use it on their own phones?
Yes, and it is usually the fastest way to start. A web app that works on any phone avoids device rollout entirely. We move to dedicated devices only when there is a scanning or durability reason.
How do you handle stores with bad wifi?
The same way as any field app. It works offline, queues what it cannot send, and tells the user plainly when something has not synced rather than failing quietly.
What does a project like this cost?
It depends on scope and we quote it line by line after a call, never before. We run two delivery tracks: a blended squad at roughly $24 to $45 per hour for straightforward builds, and a senior-only pod at roughly $75 to $120 per hour where architecture, security review and a compressed timeline matter. Most first projects here land in the four to six week range.
